Born in Puerto Rico and raised in California, Robert is happy to call himself a New Yorker. Robert is a performing artist, a singer, actor, dancer and choreographer and has performed in a variety of genres throughout his career.
Robert holds a BA in dance and theater from UC Berkeley. As an undergraduate, Robert was awarded the Chancellor's award: the "Eisner Prize" for "Creative Achievement of the Highest Order" in both theater & dance from the Department of Dramatic Art, having been the first undergraduate ever to win the honor in both theater and dance from each department within the same year at UC Berkeley. Robert was also awarded the MASK AND DAGGER Award for excellence in acting from the Department of Dramatic Art.
In NYC, Robert graduated from the 2 year acting program at the William Esper Studio studying with William Esper and learning the Meisner acting technique.
Robert also earned a Certificate in Merce Cunningham Dance Technique from the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio, studying with Merce Cunningham himself, in his company class.
Professionally, Robert has performed all over the United States from coast to coast and internationally in Europe & Canada. Episodic/TV appearances include 2 seasons on PRIME'S THE MARVELOUS MRS MAISEL, HBO'S THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA, and TRAVEL CHANNELS AMERICA'S SCARIEST PLACES. Musical theater credits include: CHICAGO, 42ND ST, SINGING IN THE RAIN, HAIRSPRAY, I LOVE A PIANO, ANYTHING GOES, MAME, SWEET CHARITY, 9 TO 5, ALL SHOOK UP and BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS. Robert has also worked in the genre of contemporary opera with renowned avant garde composer Mikel Rouse. Venues include: BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music NYC,) Toronto's LUMINATO FESTIVAL and Liverpool, UK - Capital of Culture Festival, also University of Ill-Champaign/Urbana, UC Davis, UNC Chapel Hill, UC Irvine, Arsht Center-Miami, and the Phillips Center in Gainesvilles, FL. As a modern dancer and modern dance choreographer, Robert performed throughout NYC, most notably at THE KITCHEN, ST MARK'S CHURCH, the DANNY KAYE PLAYHOUSE at Hunter College, the MERCE CUNNINGHAM STUDIO Theater, The Gowanus Arts Exchange. Robert's choreography entitled GROUND PURSUIT was chosen to be a part of the prestigious NEW STEPS Series in downtown Manhattan. In the world of cabaret, Robert sang at THE DUPLEX in NYC in a tribute show to Stephen Schwartz.
